Iyengar Yoga:
Aging with Strength and Grace
Aging is a natural phenomenon which takes place at the cellular, muscular, skeletal levels as well the brain and nervous system. Loss of muscle mass after age 50 is 1-2% a year leading to reduced physical performance, reduced bone density, frailty, connective tissue disorders, reduced functioning of the autonomic nervous system and stress that can cause depression and anxiety.

During a recent intensive in Pune, India, Prashant Iyengar noted, it is inevitable that once past the prime age, one's ability to perform postures decline so our aim should be to increase the wisdom quotient.
B.K.S. Iyengar said, "Definitely Yoga is meant for one and all, for the fulfillment of the heath of the body, the quality of the body, the innocence of the mind, clarity in intelligence and the benevolence to live a satisfied life, a spiritually satisfied life."

This series of 4 classes will focus on asana practice to enhance within one's capacity to improve stability, mobility and balancing. The aim will be to not only use the body in the asana practice but to engage our senses to assess, analyze, and reassess to improve the practice. The asana practice educates the body and benefits the physical as well as the mental, emotional and neurological levels.
